Prescriptions

Patients on regular medication do not always need to see the doctor for repeat prescriptions.  You will be issued with a slip of paper attached to your prescription.  This should be returned to the surgery when you need further medication after ticking the items you require.  If there are items on your repeat prescription you no longer take please inform the receptionist and these will be removed.

The practice is constantly monitoring and reviewing all prescribed medication in line with current medical advice.  We may alter your repeat prescription in view of new medical evidence; patients will be informed of all changes.

Patients may find they are being prescribed medication by brand/trade names.  The practice is changing these medications to medical/generic names, these are exactly the same medications, but may be in different packaging.  These are not inferior products.  This change of names of medication is now recognized to be good medical practice.

Repeat prescriptions are either to be posted (with SAE) for return or brought to the reception desk before 11.00am to be collected after 3.30pm 48 hours later.

Prescriptions received after this time will only be dispensed that day in exceptional circumstances.
If you have difficulty coming to the surgery, most pharmacists, with your permission, will bring your repeat prescription to the surgery for you.  You can then collect your prescription from the pharmacy, or ask them if they have a delivery service.

You may also order your repeat medication on line – please register at the reception desk for full details.
